I was looking through the preferences and didn't find anything in there. But, what is available is TweakUI for all Windows OSes back to Win95. Just fire up google and search for TweakUI. You should find it in a dozen places. in there, there should be an option to disable focus on windows. Another option would be to use something like Trillian (http://www.trillian.cc) or gaim (http://gaim.sourceforge.net) that gives you more options than aim does. Plus they support all chat mediums, and look cooler. :) hope this helps!
