If you are stuck at 16 color mark it's NOT the monitor.
You need to updated your Video Drivers.
Use aida32 it will tell what make of video card you have and the model number, then
use that info to get the updated video driver.
Goto driverguide.com once you have that info and get the right drivers for win2k.
Just a Note***win2k comes with many video drivers but not all of them.
I'm sorry I didn't pick that up on your 1st post but your didn't say anything about
the 16 color max and that's key.
