Are the hubs powered by a power adaptor to them or unpowered?  I have no problems 
with a powered hub on my W2K machine, but the motherboard can't supply enough power 
for an unpowered hub with more than one device on it.  You also have to be aware 
of total cable length even with a hub in the mix.
