Sound Card won't work

I have a computer running Windows 2000. Recently, my sound card stopped working,
and now Windows does not even detect it. I have tried switching slots, uninstalling
my Ethernet card, and using a different sound card. However, nothing seems to work.
The sound card is a C-Media 8738. It is a PCI card. I also have a PCI Netgear FA310TX
Ethernet card and an AGP ATI Radeon 7500 video card. Thanks in advance.
