compressed files and disk partitioning (I'm a real newby)

I know these are probably real basic questions but I have two: (1) when I use disk management under computer management, I see only one listing under "volume: operating system, layout: partition, etc..." does this mean my disk only has one partition? How do I find out how many partitions are on my disk? and (2) my MCSE book showed me how to get compressed files to show up in a different color. It says the default color is blue. I have some files showing up in blue but the folder icon is not blue, just the label underneath the folder is blue. Does this mean these files are compressed? Thanks to anyone who can help me.
