Hard to tell what the issues really are.  Adaware 2007 runs fine on my updated W2K 
machine.  It does support W2K, just not Win 9X.

I run the free-AV and no firewall as I have hardware for that.  It may depend on 
whether you have an infection now (or had one), and conflicts with other programs/AV/malware 
scanners on your system.  I have five other scanners (not running at one time) and 
have had no issues.

Possible, other software issues and or corruption but can't tell from a forum.  Don't 
know if there are forums for Adware support but maybe they can help if there are..
