Hello!

I am unable to delete a folder, please help. I am running windows 2000 professional 
SP4 and the folder is located on an external HDD connected by USB2.

When I try to delete the folder I get the following message: "Cannot delete file: 
Cannot read from the source file or disk."

When I look at the properties for the folder, the box that normally has the folder 
name in is just blank but the folder has a name when viewing in Windows Explorer. 

Where other normal folders have "Type: File Folder", the folder that won't delete 
shows "Type of File:" instead and this field is blank. Size shows as 0 bytes as does 
size on disk. The folder has Created, Modified & Accessed attributes which are also 
blank. The properties tab gives me the option to change which program opens the folder 
(the field is blank), but for example, if I choose to select that it opens with explorer.exe 
and apply it, when i re-open the properties the field is blank again.

If I try to apply a read-only attribute to the folder I get the following error message: 
"An error occured applying attributed to the file: (shows location and name of folder). 
The system cannot find the file specified." 

I also cannot move the folder anywhere or rename the folder, if i try it gives the 
me same error: "Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk." I 
can move & rename the folder that contains this folder but only within the external 
HDD, if I try to move or copy it elsewhere I get the same error: "Cannot delete file: 
Cannot read from the source file or disk."
 
I can create, delete and move files within the folder but i can't move the folder 
off the external disk or delete it?!?! It is not a system folder and was originally 
copied to the hard disk manually by myself. The drivers are upto date and I cannot 
delete it over the network either (yeah the network is set up correctly).

All I want to do is delete the folder. Please Help!
