Actually very simple. If you know where the DBX files are, just copy and paste the
OE store folder that they are in to another HDD or magnetic/solid state media. Best
NOT to use an optical drive because as much as 50% of the time, they will be corrupted
when burned, and then they have to be copied back to an HDD and the file attributes
reset from read only to archive so that the import process in OE will work for restoration.
OE has an Import/Export option but I find the Export option cumbersome and to many
needless steps.
So all you really have to do is copy the OE folder that has the DBX files and paste
it to another drive or location on a network etc for backup. Make sure that OE in
the identity that you are backing up isn't loaded. If/when you have to restore them,
you use the Import process in OE, point to the location where the store folder is
stored, follow the prompts and they will be imported to your new OE installation.
Same process for saving and importing the address book which is a .WAB file (extension)
in a different directory than the OE folder.
Alternatively, here are the MS KB articles if you want to use their process:

This works for OE6 as well IME:

There may be some free backup utilities online, but I don't have a need for them
myself so can't help there. There used to be a decent one but it has been removed
due to some incompatibilities.
