USB Driver Problem

Hi Everyone,
I have an older Thinkpad T20 running Windows 2000 that has only one USB port. Recently
the C: drive went out, so I installed a new replacement drive and began downloading
all the upgrades. The USB connection worked fine until I installed SP4 for W2K,
then it quit working. Device Manager says "The drivers for this device are not
installed (Code 28)", but when I run the Driver Update Wizard, it gives me an error
message that says "The installation failed because a function driver was not specified
for this device instance". I checked on the Internet and found that several other
people experienced the same problem with W2K, but none of their various solutions
seem to work for me.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
rjoeng
