Moving large amounts of files in Windows can invite problems. One thing that helps is to do it is smaller groups at a time. Also, using Copy rather than Move avoids some problems with files that are read-only or system files or files that must be kept with the partition. Then after the copy has finished, delete the files that can be deleted.
