As I indicated before, there isn't a network timeout in the opearting system like
what you are looking for. That is in the browser, since the browser is connecting
to the web and requesting the web pages. Not sure what the Firefox users were referring
to as far as the operating system. They obviously are grasping at straws if they
can't tell you for sure the steps to take and where to go to find what they are indicating.
I've been all through network setup and have never seen a network timeout setting
in the operating system that controls the browser.. Only in the browser settings.
Even FF has it's limits and you are going well beyond what I have been able to do
with it and still have a stable browser interface. And in addition, it's well know
that MS isn't exactly friendly with the competition with compatibility etc.. So
I think the best answers are going to come from an FF forum or from FF support.
If they don't have an answer, we certianly won't have one here either unless someone
has had the exact issue.
I did some research on your query and there was nothing, including in my XP bible
(and registry dictionary) about the system having a network timeout function. It
was only applicable with the system acquiring an address through DHCP, (and some
other functions) which has nothing to do with the brower or waiting on a website
to respond. Sorry..
