Whoa. That is a long list of questions.
The crossover cable is needed to hook two Windows PCs together when a a Bridge or ICS is being used. That should also apply to the X-box. You should use a ethernet crossover cable. The term 'CAT-5' refers to the quality of the canle. Even CAT-3 work for a short distance. The question is the connection. The croserve has one A connection and one B connetion.
If that bit of software was of some help, I am glad it did help. Here on the forum we do things the have to do with Windows 2000 problems.
The X-Box has its own set of issues that I can not help with here.
