Here is the chain of events that led up to this. I don't know that they are related
however.
Thunderbird email did an automatic update that had a bug ( in the updater not the
actual update ) that caused the right click "sendto mail" link to stop working. Several
patches were tried to fix that with no luck so far.
One suggestion was to manually download the new version and install that which I
did. It did not fix the right click problem ( discussed in another thread here ).
In the normal course of things while working I later tried to click on a file to
open an application and it did not work. I have discovered several associations
that quit working, though most seem ok. ( I have not tested all ).
In any event, trying to recreate the associations does not work....they are lost
once I close the dialog box to set them in the Folder Options menu.
