audio running fast

I have a problem which I believe is computer or Windows based - when I play CDs on my computer, the sound is running fast...it sounds high pitched and is faster than it should be. The same with Skype - the person on the other end sounds three octaves higher than they really are, and they tell me I sound slow. Everything works ok - just very fast and high pitched. Any ideas? (Win 2000, 280 RAM, Compaq Deskpro EN) Thanks Teppic

Problem solved! I simply updated the audio driver and all is well. Fantastic that Windows and Microsoft actually worked flawlessly - went to audio driver, selected Update driver, it found a better driver on the web, installed it, and everything works. Must be a first for me.... Teppic
