Where are network settings stored besides registry?

I tried to restore my registry to a previous date, basically using ERUNT. However,
since I had changed the "workgroup" name, 2000 would not log on. If I restored back
to today, changed the "workgroup" name to the old one, then restored to the previous
date, I could log on.
Does anybody know where I could find the file containing the computer and workgroup
names that is checked against the registry? I would like to copy this file with my
backups in case I cannot log into windows and need to restore.

Human error (incomplete backup) caused this. I did not have the E:\Documents and
Settings\administrator folder saved in that backup. I went back one date earlier
and had no problems.

NOTE: I (usually) save the complete tree under E:\Documents and Settings, but I imagine
saving just the USER\Application Data and USER\Local Settings\Application Data folders
(as well as any registry files) for all users would be sufficient.

Thanks for replying anyway.
