I have been using SP4 on three computers and have had no trouble. But I got the SP4
on a CD from Microsoft. The download may have been bad. On the Microsoft site you
were told that before using SP4 you should have some kind of Backup already.
So you do have a backup, - Right? Now just restore your system from the backup and
try to download SP4 again. (It would be nice if there was a check sum for it.)

Oh Oh. I was sure I read something about making a backup first! Now I can not find
it!
Somehow lots of IT people hare having network issues with SP-4. A search of the MS
KB shows that if you update a computer to SP4 the server may also need the update
in a network with a domain.
Sorry I gave you the wrong advice. There is some way to unwind the SP-4 and go back
to how it was. Here is a link:
