It's been my experience it installs by default with the funky XP style interface and I have to spend 5 or 10 min's changing it to the "classic" 2000 style interface. I'm not sure what you did to install it with that style but check the Taskbar properties on the Start Menu tab. Change it to "Start Menu" from "Classic Start Menu" and see if that doesn't suit you more.
