There is no difference in the attempt to test the FTP between work and home.
ftp:\\externalIPAddress\
guest login
Now if you try that from a computer in the building, connected to the network (server
and T1) it fails to connect. If you use the internal IP all is cozy and fine and
works.
Yes we can access the files from within the network but only with our internal ip
(172.17.x.xx) I believe the issue is how to get around the firewall to test the FTP
as though I were a remote user to make sure it will work.
We have a T1 here, it's shared with all the computers on the server.
Using the IP address to access FTP from home. That's how it's set up. That's how
I've been attempting to test it from a PC within the building that is connected to
the network.
If my phrasing is vague I'm sorry. I'm doing this on the fly, trying to keep the
plates spinning.
