Well, I would first of all, try to eliminate any software as the issue... Before
trying to troubleshoot device drivers.. You can probably disable most third party
applications without breaking anything on the server for your users. However, if
you start messing with device drivers, the system may not be stable to test in a
product environment.
First of all, I would try running 'msconfig'. Click the services tab and click hide
all microsoft services.. Then try to disable every service there that you know isn't
needed, including the anti-virus, etc.. Then click the startup tab and try to disable
everything in there also. If you don't know what it is, disable it. If you do know
what it is and it is not absolutely required, disable it.. Then reboot and test the
functionality of the server for your users, and let it run for a few days.. See if
you still have the problem. If not, you can begin a process of elimination.. But
it will be painstaking because oyu have to test for several days at a time to verify
if it is acting up still or not.
As far as device drivers go, I'll have to look into some Microsoft articles to troubleshoot
those.. They have some articles on-line explaining how.. But, it may be difficult..
I would suspect software more than drivers.
Good luck, and keep me posted on what you are finding out.
