Thats interesting. Not a DNS issue. Sounds like your webserver is redirecting your web traffic. It sees your browser make a request to subdomain.mysite.com and redirects the browser to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address. I think you may have been trying to get this to work and somehow you turned that on.
