Computer names Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 9:33 am Windows Server 2003 Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Gazza (5 messages posted) I hope someone can help with a small problem( i hope) I have a windows 2003 machine setup as a dc, file and dns server in a domain. There are 17 machines connected to it that were all named after the users. I have since changed the names to workstation01 - 17. This is all fine but when i look at the shared folders mmc and look under the sessions folder all the computer names have the new name but some have .mydomainname.com after them others just have there ( i assume) netbios name. When i look under DNS all the computers are shown with ther new names. Has anyone got any ideas as to why this is.
