Acronis TrueImage does this very, very well and will automatically resize the partitions to fit the new drive. If you image the drive, the new drive will always have partitions that are the same size as the old drive unless the software specifically makes provision to resize them. It appears that whatever you used to image the drive did not do this, or did not do it properly.
