Thanks very much for the reply. I have a2003 Small Business server set up in my
home office. I used to be able to access it directly via 10baseT cable with an older
laptop - I just set the laptop's Local Area Network settings to match the server's
- same subnet mask and an IP address that was very close to the servers.
My new laptop cannot access the server via 10baseT cable - I don't know why but it
just doesn't see the server, can't ping it, can't access it at all.
I'd like to leave my server up and running with my printer attached to it so anyone
in my house with the requisite credentials could wirelessly log in to the server
and print, access files, etc., so I have to be able to set up my laptop to access
the server via wireless, but that doesn't work either. The IP addresses the server
ands the laptop get from my Verizon wireless router are very close but although my
server can SOMETIMES ping the laptop, the laptop can never ping the server, login,
map to a server drive, etc.
I'm considering wiping out the server and starting from scratch but I didn't get
the media with the server - unless I can set up wireless access I guess I have to
call Dell and ask how I'm supposed to be able to reinstall 2003 on the server.
