Wasn't quite the same issue as Bob's for me. The names that were used weren't replaced
by other file information like creation/modification or truncated for long file names.
I did still have trouble accessing the files by either their original or new file
names. In each case thus far I have just ended up deleting them, and restoring them
from backup or source computer.
I believe the cause is related to excessive read/write requests and/or faults. Read/Write
queue on the server is always high, even running raid5. The filename that sometimes
replaces the actual filename seems to be derived from that user's account name. (me

In command prompt, sometimes the file name was the original, others it was the new,
and other times it was an entertaining display of random numbers, characters, and
symbols.
