Hi Diane:
As Keith said, you need to FORMAT the old Win95
computer and start over fresh.
I think you confused us all when you used the term
"download." Windows must be "installed" from
"media" (floppies, CDs). "Downloading" usually
implies getting files from the Internet. Windows
has never been distributed (legally) over the
Internet, although I'm sure some unscrupulous
people have illegally distributed it this way.
We're always cautious about providing information
on how to "download Windows" (illegally) from the
Internet.
Since you already have your own installation
media, I can recommend some good sites describing
the reformatting process, and tips on how to
install a new Operating System. Your installation
media will need to be a "full install", and not an
"upgrade". An "upgrade" version will want to see
the older Win95 system in place before it lets you
upgrade.
