"Her name is embedded on the disks
some how . . ."
This might not be as far-fetched as it sounds.
I know that Microsoft used a registered-owner
identification embedding scheme when it
distributed "FoxPro for DOS" on floppy disks.
You could NOT install the program from the first
floppy disk if it was write-protected, and when
your removed the write-protection and installed
FoxPro on your hard drive, it wrote your user-name
back onto the installation floppy. Any subsequent
installation from those floppies had the original
user-name pre-installed.
That said, I have never seen this technique used
for any flavor of Windows -- but it "could"
have been used in early Win95-A floppy disks.
It's certainly feasible.
