Hi Jim.
Do you have a floppy drive on you old computer?
If you have then you need a boot disk. If you don't have one then download one from
BootDisk. You might be better of downloading
a WinME OEM boot disk, bootme.exe. Then you will need some one with a floppy drive
on there computer to make the boot disk.
Once you've made the boot disk you need to insert it in your old computer and start
it up. If it doesn't read to floppy then you need to go into the CMOS/BIOS and change
the boot sequence then restart.
Now because its had WinXP on before DOS doesn't recongnise NTFS file systems so you
need to type in at the A:\ prompt Fdisk. This will run Fdisk.exe which will allow
you to delete the NTFS partition and setup a new Primary DOS partition which you
can then restart and run A:\Format C:. If its had WinXP on it before there maybe
other partitions in there. When Fisk gets to the first menu press 4 to see exisiting
partitions and there size.
If you want help on how to use Fdisk then there is plenty on the web or you can have
a read at Radified.
There are loads of topics on Fdisk on this forum if you want to search for them.
