Hi Ron:
After you turn the computer on, start tapping the
F8 key once per second until a white-on-black menu
appears.
Select the option that says
"Logged (\BOOTLOG.TXT)"
and press ENTER.
The computer will continue to load Windows, and at
some point will crash, or will continue into SAFE
MODE. Turn the computer off, and start over.
This time, select from the menu
"Command prompt only"
and press ENTER.
Type this at the DOS prompt:
"TYPE C:\BOOTLOG.TXT"
(don't type the quotation marks)
and press ENTER
A long list of stuff will fly by on the screen.
Examine the bottom of the list when it stops. The
last few items will tell you what last loaded
successfully, and what didn't load properly and
caused your crash.

select a date before this problem occured.
Now its 10 years ago since I've used Win95 but I'm told that a Scanreg /restore is
available.
