I bought a pc from church and the win98 dosn't boot up. I have win95 but lost the
code # Microsoft says to go to registry editor (where do I go from here) my pc only
boots up to the win98 screen and stays idal.I have the 98 upgrade with my prod.#
Please I need advice on just getting to the registry.

You need Windows to start before you can access the registry. Have you tried to startup
in Safe Made?
As your computer starts up hold down the Ctrl key until you see the DOS boot
menu and select Safe Mode.
If Win98 has been on ther before then I would suggest you get a Win98SE of eBay.

You don't need to start windows -- you can do this in DOS.

I know you can edit the registry in DOS but I don't think its easy to use.

Okay, thanks. Those are the commands for converting the registry into an ASCII text
file.
When I saw the words "registry editor" together, I was thinking of something that
would work like a "tree" program. And I could have spent hours looking for something
that does not exist, which is why I asked in the thread.

It's 2008, Ed. Windows 95 went out years ago.
