Another option Joan, may be to restore the registry. If your attempt to install Office
failed and you cannot now boot the machine, try this. If this is not the case, then
provide more information.
- Boot, press and hold the 'CTRL' key to enter the boot menu. Select the 'COMMAND
PROMPT ONLY' option and press enter.
- At the C:\> prompt, type 'SCANREG /RESTORE' and press enter.
- When the next screen appears select a backup with a date before this problem
occurred. Or with the most current backup, which would be the first time you booted
today. Finish out the backup process and then reboot.
