Try JmC's advice first. If no luck there, try again to install Windows from the
CD. Be sure you use a startup diskette (floppy) that provides CD support. (You
can download one from www.bootdisk.com). Boot from the floppy. At the A: prompt,
switch to the CD drive (D: or maybe E:) then enter setup. To be sure you are able
to read the CD, at the A: prompt, try dir D:\win98 - that comes back with file/folder
found, then D: is the drive for the CD. If file not found, then try dir E:\win98.
