Let's try again. Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Device Manager.
Scroll down to Display Adapter and click on the + sign. What device details are
given? Take a note of them. Then select the device and Remove it. Scroll down
to Monitor and click the + sign. What device is shown. Select it and Remove it.
Close down Control Panel and reboot.
In the reboot, Windows should identify the video adapter and reinstall using the
driver that is now there. If the monitor is Plug n Play, then it should be recognised
too but I suspect it is an older monitor. For the moment, let Windows use the default
and tell us what you get after the reboot. Don't change any settings until then.
