Andrew: some tweaks to try:
1. run a repair or update on your browser.
2. click Start,Run and enter this: regsvr32 wupdinfo.dll
3. click Start,Run and enter this: regsvr32 Wuv3is.dll
as a work around, try browser access to: http://www.windowsupdate.com
