Hi Everett, Thanks for the message. Using the information on the microsoft site I've used the System File Checker tool which told me that three files may be corrupted. These are: setupx.dll, svexe2.dll and vswk4.dll. I've found the information on extracting original files from the microsoft website but it isn't sufficiently detailed for me to follow. Are you able to tell me where on the windows 98 SE disk these files are likely to be and give me detailed instructions on how to extract them in dos? Thanks a lot for your help Simon
