hi im having a problem with my computer. first i was getting this error message that said "operating system not found." after a couple reboots it started to load up windows 98 but then went on to say that i needed to scan the registry. i did that by typing scanreg like it said to. but while scanreg was running the hard drive kept making these weird knocking type noises which was obviously stalling the process but it eventually was scanned and i got a message saying the registry was fixed or something like that. i rebooted again and this time while loading windows 98, my hard drive made the same knocking noises then the computer just stopped responding. i have been getting these knocking noises for a while. usually happened when the computer has been up for a while without a reboot. a nyone know the problem is?
