Hello and thank you in advance to anybody who can help me with this problem! I have
ALMOST the same problem is the user who started this topic.
I recently had to install a new screen on my Thinkpad 600E because the old one had
died out. So I took my Thinkpad apart... got the screen installed in there just
fine. Turned on the laptop, and YES!.. the new screen worked well and was very bright...
So here's the problem. The Thinkpad never really got to boot up all the way. After
being switched on, it only gets as far as the first "system check" during the black
screen. It shows 130496 KB OK. That's the RAM check I assume... then it gets to
the next line and displays "08611"... after showing that, it switches to a primitive
looking GUI screen (not Windows) and it says ERROR 08611. I have the option to select
a "Test" or "Restart" button (however I have to plug in a mouse to move the cursor).
Once I select the Test button, there is a list of hardware that can be tested.
The first one happens to be SystemBoard. So when I run that test, it gets through
it only to tell me I have "DEV 086 ERR 22 FRU 0010". Thus, I assume my problem is
similar to the user's in this board.
I have tried holding down Ctrl or F8 keys during startup to get to Safe Mode... it
won't make it that far. Can anybody PLEASE help me? I don't even mind if everything
on the harddrive gets deleted, so long as my laptop is useable again.
(PS - I made sure when I added the new screen that every single wire/cord was reconnected...
as well as the ribbons that needed to be connected on the screen.)
