I agree. XP is almost as bad of a slug as Me was. But you really want W2K, or W98se,
not "plain vanilla" W98. But as seems to be the case for all the laptop OS installs
I've run across, you have a great deal of extra work changing out OS versions on
it.
Yes, you will need to save off the drivers for all of your laptop's hardware; yes,
it's entirely possible that some of the drivers you currently have will be specific
to XP, but almost all will work with W2K, and "probably" with W98se.
No, the "Plus" CD contains no actual OS on it.
A floppy startup disk is nice to have, and will be included with most versions of
W2K, and all versions of W98. You will need to buy an actual OS before you can dump
XP.
