I have a problem that I have been wrestling with for many weeks. I was using Windows XP Pro, but my CD and DVD drives disappeared. I tried all fixes found on the net, nada. I tried different operatiing systems, same thing. I did a complete wipe of the hard drive, and installed Windows 98. The CD and DVD are now back. BUT......now I have (with a fresh install and no new programming added) 4 big yellow splotches under Device Manager: 1. PCI Communication Device; 2. PCI Ethernet Controller; 3. PCI Input Controller; and 4. PCI Multimedia Audio Device. I also now have no sound, where it was fine before. Does anybody have any ideas how to fix these items? When the computer restarts, it says it has found new devices, and we go through all four, demanding drivers, and not "finding" them anywhere (on the Win 98 CD, or floppy disks with drivers on them, it always says the same thing: no drivers found at that location. Help?? Thanks, Cherie online77@comcast.net
