cab file error message

i am trying to install windows 98 on a computer that has no operarting system and after i put the product key number in it gave me a message saying startup detected an error cab file may be corrupt it is an original 98 cd and i don't know how to fix this problem can anyone tell me since i don't know what file it is how i can get the file through dos what words to use. and how to do it
