I use Ad-Aware but not System Mechanic.

To clarify, I searched my registry in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and in regfile I got:

Default Icon --- (Default) "C:\Windows\regedit.exe,1"
Shell > Edit > Command -- (Default) "C:\Windows\Notepad.exe %1"
Open > Command -- (Default) "C:\Windows\Regedit.exe %"1""
Print > Command -- (Default) "C:\Windows\Notepad.exe /p %1"

I also have references under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Reg and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Registrar to a program called Registrar Lite, an alternate to Regedit that I used to use and never uninstalled.

All I can say about these is that they apply to when you click on a file with a .REG extension. A previous item, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/.reg, said to look for the "regfile" entry to see how to handle that extension.

I don't know what's going on. But are those the entries you are talking about?

BTW, to get a blank line in this forum, enter:
