Tones Prior to Start UP Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 7:32 pm Windows 98 Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Tom Evans (2 messages posted) I have recently reloaded Windows 98 SE on a Compaq Armada 7800. Everything boots normally, but I get two tones (arpegio) just before the desktop appears with the normal Windows 98 start up sound. These tones are kind of like the old POST tones with DOS except the pitch of these tones are different. The volume of these tones is also louder than the Windows 98 start up. Is this some sort of error indication? Can I turn these tones off? Thanks.
