Yes you can import you old messages and address book of your old computer. It depends
if your Win98 computer has access to a flash drive.
If you go to C:\Windows\Application Data\Identities\{5775DE40-DFA2-11DB-BB5E-C38F73211070}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express
Your {5775DE40-DFA2-11DB-BB5E-C38F73211070} maybe slightly different number to mine.
All you email folders are stored in this Outlook Express folder, they are all dbx
files. You could actually open up OE and select File\Folder\Compact All Folder...
just to make the files a bit smaller. So right-click on Outlook Express folder and
select sent to Outlook Express.zip.
Your address book is stored in
C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book just zip this folder as before.
If you can put this file on a flash drive then all well and good it not then it depends
if the Dell comp has a floppy drive. Then just unzip the Outlook Express.zip and
Address Book.zip to a folder on its own. Open OE and select File\Import\Address
Book... and find you wab file you unzipped out of Address Book.zip.
If you already have an address book on the Dell then it will just duplicate the new
names, just right-click on Contacts and delete them.
Then do the same for your old messages. Select File\Import\Messages... and
select the version you were using before OE6.0 or what ever and follow the instructions.
You don't need to select the files you want to import you just select the folder
where you unzipped Outlook Express.zip, it will import them all, you can sort rename
or delete them later.
It depends on how many years you have been using OE and how many emails you have
because the zipped files can be quite big.
If you don't have a flash drive then I would suggest you go and buy one, they are
quite cheap. Make sure its compatable with Win98.
