1. The Quick Launch section *appears* blank. However, in fact the shortcuts are
there, as I determined by moving my mouse of them and clicking. The problem is that
the *small* icons for those programs are missing.
Rightclicking on an empty section of Quick Launch brings up a menu. If I click on
the top choice, VIEW, I have a choice of "large icons" or "small icons". If I click
large icons, large icons appear in the QL section.
2. In Windows explorer, the icons representing "type of file" are mostly missing.
3. I'm 99% sure I do not have a virus or any malware. I screen incoming email
before it gets to my computer, never even receive emails from unknown sources, never
accept emails with attachments, and when I do download software, I d/l only recommended
software, and only from the "primary" site.
Moreover, it would be a strange virus writer, indeed, who would content himself with
messing with icons.
