Problem getting a burned CD to boot on old box (was: ...insufficient memory...)

|Placed that CD back in my XP box and performed an install from the CD,
|it auto ran and installed on my XP box. Now I have dual boot on that box.

|Burned another copy of the SAME iso[on the]other machine,
|[...]this time it worked and installed!

|Only thing I can figure is Brasero did something Nero did not.

I'm wondering:  If you swapped the optical drives between the 2 boxes
and used the original ("defective") media,
would the problem follow the (badly-aligned?) drive?
