Fatal exceptions

After I used the sleep function for the first time my windows 98 did not work correctly,I am now informed rightly or wrongly that this function can cause a lot of problems I did the a new setup for windows98, over existing one as I have in the past. Everything went correctly until the last 15 minutes, when the hardware was being setup. then I got message exception , at 0028:C18D2A9D, press any key to carry on.every time I got a similar message with the difference of last 4 letters and figures. There was no end and I gave up. Now apparently the partial download has affected the existing one and I have the greatest difficulty in starting windows.I will be very happy to hear from those with a solution Reuven
