Thank you gewg_.I will explain more fully. First I am planning to by a new Hard Disk
of much greater capacity.I will transfer(copy?) my existing HD to it,and do a clean
installation of Windows 98. But at the moment I am more interested in getting my
present setup(installation?) working. I realise I was not very clear. I had no trouble
with my computer, but I decided to try the sleep function. The next day on clicking
the key, my computer was restored to the same condition as before "sleep" as it
was supposed to do.The following night I powered down in the normal way, without
using sleep. But when I turned on the computer in the morning , ever thing seemed
normal, until I tried to use on the disk drives,"properties" to check on my free
space. There was no respond. Outlook express did not work correctly.Googling,on a
friends computer the "sleep' function, there were warnings that it could damage the
OS. That is when I decided to do an install over my existing Windows OS. which I
have done in the past successfully. This time the installation stopped about 15 minites
before the end when it was installing hardware. I have not installed any new hardware
or programs since my last successful installation of Windows.
