The answer to the question is that it is a documentation error. The problem: you
don't know which statement is correct. Better to post on a hardware (IBM) forum to
find someone who has used that flash app.
If your hardware works now, any problems in 2000 will be driver issues, NOT bios
related. Adding/changing hardware might require it -- most likely with the addition
of a large drive.
Finally, if you flash a bios simply because an update is available, you deserve a
paperweight.
