The trouble was,as explained, not being able to reinstall win98se. So even if I did
a clean install, it is possible the same exceptions would stop the full installation.
But I solved the the problem and was successful in the re-installation.I found out
that during installation, a log file is created.By checking this file, I found out
that 4 files were involved.VMM32.VXD : dxmigr.dll:suexpand.dll: and msdamg9x.dll
I replaced these files using 'System file checker' and I completed installation.
But now there is another problem. Previously I had the desktop set to resolution
800,600 but using this resolution now the task bar is hidden and I have to use 848,480.One
result of this is MSReader when opened is very narrow, Adobe reader is not affected.
Re-installing MSReader makes no difference.I am using Tornado G-Force.Perhaps I should
start another thread? But I must thank you all for the time and effort you spent
on my problem.
