|And I still recommend Recuva.

So, you're saying that INSTALLING a utility
on a HDD that you're trying to recover data from is a Good Thing(tm).
Seems pretty silly to me.
In the case of a borked Windoze OS, **very** silly.
OTOH, Brian Kato's app will run from a floppy.
It doesn't need Windoze and it doesn't need to be installed to the HDD.
