Links Don't Work

Links don't open anymore. In November, they did. In December, they didn't. If the
link will re-use the window I am in, that's fine.
Even though I have EVERYTHING set to "re-use window", many times a new window will
pop up
anyway, but can't load.
A work-around is to right-click on the link, "save shortcut", and paste that into
the new window. It's a pain but I can get there.
Many times, however, "save shortcut" doesn't appear as an
option. I'll get the "save picture" menu instead. Other times I get the "save background"
menu. (One example of this is on:
http://webmessenger.msn.com/default.aspx?R=1 ,
when I click on the "Start MSN Web Messenger" bar. The pop-up window
doesn't have a URL bar anyway. If such windows are java, sometimes I'll get it,
often not.
I have looked everywhere for a similar problem.
I seem to be the only one who can't get there from here!
Thanks,
Marjorie (Oh no! I can't get the Quick preview!)
